The Symphonies of Gustav Mahler are quite large, and we can only provide some samples here. Antonín Dvořák ’s cello concerto ranks among the supreme examples from the Romantic era while Robert Schumann 's focuses on the lyrical qualities of the instrument. Chamber works in sonata form are typically named after the ensemble: for example, string quartet, piano trio, wind quintet, or for the instrument playing with piano accompaniment.

There are two main forms of zarzuela: Baroque zarzuela (c.1630–1750), the earliest style, and Romantic zarzuela (c.1850–1950), which can be further divided into two.

The material in Schoenberg’s concerto, like that in Berg’s, is linked by the twelve-tone serial method. Well, we could trace the history of the concerto, but that would take too long. The other made in the mid1950s and now of near-legendary status is by Jeanne-Marie Darré who was a woodpecker of the old French school with an amazing finger technique and musicianship and temperament to match. Après avoir étudié près de chez lui et, plus tard, à Prague, Dussek émigra (avant ses vingt ans) en Europe du Nord.

Similarly, the balletic second subject first appears on perky oboes and clacking castanets, whilst the pianos take injects a distinct measure of vodka (nobody did inebriation like Prokofiev did!). The pianist has the improvisatory second subject; after a brief departure, the main theme returns in a much denser scoring, the melody in canon between the piano and the tenor instruments, and concludes in the same insistent cadence.

An astonishing young musician, Goulding began playing the violin at age 3 ½ and earned a Grammy nomination for her first CD, recorded at age 16. Vivaldi's most famous compositions are the concertos for one or more solo violins and string orchestra, although he composed a great deal of music in other genres, including cantatas, operas, trio sonatas and others.

The piano and orchestra work together to develop these themes in the piano exposition before the key changes to F Minor (from F Major, the dominant) and the piano plays a powerful and difficult section before the next orchestral tutti appears. I haven't really studied the piano parts for the Beethoven violin/piano sonatas but my hasty impression (as a pianist who has studied many of the Beethoven piano sonatas) is that though not as challenging as the piano sonatas they are substantial pieces of music for both instrumentalists.

The most prolific composer of the solo concerto was Antonio Vivaldi, who wrote approximately 350 and established the concerto’s standard three-movement form (two fast outer movements, one middle movement in a slower tempo). Find a local MTAC teacher near you by entering your zip code. It was a somewhat unconventional choice (other composers more often added an extra cello, rather than a viola) but Mozart returned to this quintet configuration several more times. It was developed and became popular during the Classical period of musical history, which occurred from about 1750 to 1830.
